News reading 13- In the article, it talks about the parades for the LGBTQ community and the celebration they get. Along with the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, National Hispanic-Latino Heritage Month, National American Indian Heritage Month, and Black History Month. How these get celebrated every year and how white people aren't really in any of the things that are celebrated above. It says that there should be something that celebrates whites and straights. The article states that, "Last year, a report from Public Policy Polling found that 35 to 37 percent of Trump supporters feel the United States should have a dedicated month to celebrate the history and contributions of Caucasians." For the celebration of all people that are straight, Boston has approved the permit application saying that there would be a Straight Pride Parade. It's going to be held on August 31, 2019. It's said that they've come to this conclusion of a Straight Pride Parade because, "...with the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots happening this year, it was inevitable that straight people would want in on the action." I understand why this became a thing. A lot of heritage's and choice of sexuality are being celebrated and there are also some people that are always left out of getting to feel as though they have a part or a reason to be in any parade. I think it's cool that there's a Straight Pride Parade, it's showing that everyone should be celebrated for how the feel about themselves and the history's and cultures people were born into. But for the Caucasian Heritage Month, I don't really know how I feel about it in all honesty. The history that's been made by Caucasians is good and bad, but I see more bad done than anything. Yes, a lot of good has been done, but bad definitely tops the good. And with the way that we're going towards a lot of the problems with Iraq and us, it's like all we do is start wars and slavery. There have been so many good things to come out of that history as well, but I feel like we need to do more and better what's happening in our lives to keep that same routine from happening before we get honored with a parade. I like the idea of having a Straight Pride Parade, because if some or a lot of Caucasians are feeling left out of not being celebrated, if you're straight you can be a part of it, any race can. If you're white and lesbian or gay, you have the Pride Parade and Pride Month. To me, there's enough parades now to include everyone with out having a backlash on the history of Caucasians.
