News reading 20- Ice cream is now being made through chemistry. It's not dairy, so no cows are being involved through the making of the ice cream. It's a vegan ice cream. It's made from whey and casein protein produced through genetically modified yeast. From some of the people that have tried this ice cream, they say it tastes exactly like the real thing. The casein and whey protein are what give milk it's flavor and texture, so it's just like regular ice cream. It's just a genetically engineered way to produce the proteins that is put into this ice cream. I personally think this is pretty cool because now people that are lactose intolerant can go out and enjoy ice cream like everyone else, especially on a hot day. I also feel as though it's a little gross. I'm the type of person that likes to know that there's natural ingredients that go into what I eat before I eat it. I don't really like the fact of thinking about lab made ice cream in my mouth. Along with genetically engineered proteins involved in the making of the ice cream. It just sort of grosses me out and is probably what would stop me from taking a bite. Overall, I definitely do think this invention/idea is pretty awesome.
